Hyderabad/Nalgonda, May 23 (Hydnow): Nalgonda MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy today said the farmers in the State have decided to change the regime of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao in the next elections.

Addressing a series of meetings in the Nalgonda, Lok Sabha constituency on the third day of the Rachabanda program on Monday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has acknowledged the power of farmers and by admitting that farmers could change any government, KCR himself predicted the fall of TRS Govt in next Assembly elections.

“It took almost eight years for KCR to realise that no government could survive by neglecting farmers. Now he should also confess the sin of playing with the lives of lakhs of Telangana farmers,” he added.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said as per the statistics of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), more than 8,400 farmers committed suicide ever since the TRS came to power in 2014. But KCR did not pay the mandatory Rs 6 lakh compensation or other assistance to the families of farmers, who committed suicide. To suppress the suicide cases, directions were issued to the local police stations for not registering the suicide cases.

He said Telangana was the only State in the country where farmers have no crop insurance. Although lakhs of farmers lost their crops due to natural calamities like unseasonal rains, floods, drought, and so on or even pest attacks, none of them got any compensation either from the BJP Govt at the Centre or the TRS Govt in Telangana.

“The BJP-TRS Govts have discontinued the old system of District/State officials conducting enumeration of crop losses, followed by the visit of Central teams to assess the damage. Even in the case of severe pest attack on chilli crops recently, KCR did not pay any compensation despite giving an assurance in the Assembly,” he said. (Hydnow)
