Srinagar: Terrorists shot and killed a Kashmiri Pandits today at an apple orchard in the Shopian district. According to the authorities, his sibling was hurt in the shooting.

The killing of a Kashmiri Pandit at a government facility in Budgam, which provoked significant community demonstrations, occurred roughly three months ago. Since then, more than 5000 Kashmiri Pandit employees have stopped showing up for work out of concern for targeted attacks. They want to stay in Jammu until the situation in the Valley gets better.

The terrorist attack’s victim has been named as Sunil Kumar. In the incident, his brother Pintu Kumar sustained injuries.


Since October of last year, a number of targeted killings have occurred in Kashmir. Migrant labourers and Kashmiri Pandits made up a large portion of the victims.

Seven civilians were killed in five days in October, including two migrant Hindus, a Sikh, and a Kashmiri Pandit.

Many Kashmiri Pandit families left their homes in the Valley shortly after that.


Rahul Bhat, 36, a Kashmiri Pandit who earned a government position as part of a package for the community that was compelled to abandon the Valley during the wave of militancy in the 1990s, was shot and killed by terrorists in Budgam’s tehsildar’s office in May.

The minority community protested in large numbers as a result of the tragedy. Kashmiri Pandits organised protests during which they sang anti-government chants and questioned whether the government had brought them back to the Valley to be slaughtered.
