Covid-19 JN.1: Amid the ongoing festive season, a total of 69 cases of Covid-19 sub-variant JN.1 have been reported in India till now. Of these, the maximum number of cases have been reported in Goa, followed by Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana.

The JN.1 (BA.2.86.1.1) sub-variant of COVID-19 emerged in August in Luxembourg. It is a descendant of the BA.2.86 lineage of SARS-COV2. Meanwhile, India saw a rise of 116 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the active tally to 4,170.
