Hyderabad, May 11 (Hydnow): The campaign for the Lok Sabha Elections, which has been going on for two months, will end in a few hours. The mikes will be muted from pm onwards, polling will be held for 17 Lok Sabha Constituencies and the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly seat will be on May 13.

In this connection, liquor shops, and wine shops will remain closed across the state from 5 pm today until the end of polling on Monday evening. The Election Commission has already made it clear that liquor cannot be sold despite having any licenses. Due to this, alcohol lovers are taking precautions as there are consecutive holidays. They are bringing the goods they need.

Meanwhile, the election campaign will end on Saturday evening. As per the rules, campaigning has to end 48 hours before polling, so campaigning will end at 4 pm on Saturday in 13 Assembly segments and by 6 pm in the remaining 106 Assembly segments of the state. The campaign will end at 4 pm on Saturday in the Naxal-affected areas of Asifabad, Mirpur, chenna, Bellampally, Manchiryala, Manthani, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadrachalam, Pinapaka, Illandu, Aswaraopeta and Kothagudem assembly constituencies.


Arrangements for polling in all the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state as well as in Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly Constituency have reached the final stage. Home voting has already ended across the state. Of the 23,247 persons with disabilities who applied for home voting, 21,651 people cast their votes as those above the age of 85 years were allowed to exercise their right to vote at home. 2,29,072 people applied for voting by postal ballot. 1,75,994 of them voted. 34,973 employees will vote on polling day through the Election Duty Certificate (EDC).

Polling will be held on May 13 from 7 am to 6 pm. 1,09,941 ballot units, 50,135 VVPATs, and 44,906 control units will be set up in 35,809 polling centers for the total 3.32 crore voters in the state. A total of 525 candidates including 50 women are in the fray in 17 Lok Sabha constituencies. (Hydnow)
