Hyderabad, Dec.1 (Hydnow): Total percentage of voting in the GHMC in 149 divisions was pegged at 35.80 percent by 5 pm according to officials.

By the end it may be around 38 percent to 40 percent according to reports. It is said that in Bagh Amberpet the polling percent was more.

The city people used to skip voting have done so while the polling in the outskirts was a bit better according to sources. The polling percent was more in RC Puram, Amberpet and it was less in Malakpet Karan circles.

The votes percent was declined to some extent compared to previous polls. It is reported that 29.76 percent votes polled by 4 pm in the polling stations as around 28 percent polled in IT corridor and Sherilingampally and others in the city.

The poll body announced re-election to 69 polling stations in Old Malakpet for misprint of party symbols in the ballot papers. Out of 9101 polling stations set up for the polls, the voters exercised their franchise in 9032 polling stations according to information.

The polling was allowed to people who were in queue lines by 6 pm amid Corona protocols. The voting results to be announced on December 4 along with Old Malakpet repolling on 3.

The voters preferred to stay homes, left for home districts and IT employees busy working from home and shown less interest in voting according to information. Corona protocols in the polling stations also added to poor percentage and youth have refrained from the voting.

The poll body banned exit polls till repolling in Old Malakpet on December e 6 pm. Hyderabad saw poor voting percent in previous years were — 42.04 in 2009, 45.29 in 2016, 58 in 2009 general election, 50.86 in 2018 Assembly, 39.46 Lok Sabha 2019 respectively. (Hydnow)
