EC Releases Schedule For MLC Elections In Telangana And AP
The election commission has released the schedule for the MLA quota MLC polls in Telugu states. The elections will be held for six MLC seats in Telangana and three seats in Andhra Pradesh respectively.
According to the schedule, notification will be released on November 9 and polling will be held on November 29 followed by the results on the same day.
It is learned that the term of three MLC seats has been vacant in Andhra Pradesh on May 31 this year and six in Telangana on June 3.
Earlier, the election commission has postponed the conduct of the election at that time in the wake of the coronavirus.
In the schedule released on Sunday, the ECI stated that it had reassessed the situation in both the States and decided to go ahead with the polling.
Accordingly, the notification for the election will be released November 9 and nominations also will be accepted from the same day.

The last day for submission of nominations is November 16. The scrutiny of nominations will be held on November 17, while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is November 22.
The polling will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on November 29, followed by counting of votes from 5 pm onwards. The results will be announced on the same day and the entire polling process will be completed on or before December 1.
The elections will be held in strict adherence to Covid-19 protocol.
Meanwhile, Chinna Govinda Reddy, Mohammad Sharif, and Somu Veerraju of Andhra Pradesh and Akula Lalita, Farizuddin, Gutta Sukhendar Reddy, Neti Vidyasagar, Venkateshwar, and Kadium Srihari’s term ended. Hence, the election commission has released the schedule for MLC elections.
The Union Home Minister has alerted the states of the country in the wake of the Indo-Pak War. The Telangana government and police, which were immediately alerted, took preemptive measures. Security has been tightened in Hyderabad.
