Gachibowli car mishap: Survivor says all three victims were drunk
Hyderabad, Dec. 18: The lone survivor of the Gachibowli car mishap, Sai Sidhu, a junior artiste who is now battling for his life in a hospital, has said that all the three victims, Abdul Raheem, N Manasa and M Manasa, had liquor hours before the accident.
“Raheem consumed whisky while the two women consumed beer at my house around midnight. Afterwards, the women said they wanted to have tea and all of them started in the car for Lingampally. I did not consume liquor,” Sai Sidhu told reporters at the hospital.
He recalled that he had told them that police was checking for drunk driving in the city and that it was quite risky to drive the car.
However, they had gone ahead and around 3.30 am, the car crashed
into a road median on the HCU road at Gachibowli, killing three of them, with Sidhu being the only survivor.
Meanwhile, the autopsy of the victims is being performed at the Osmania General Hospital. The relatives of the victims have reached here to claim the bodies.
The Union Home Minister has alerted the states of the country in the wake of the Indo-Pak War. The Telangana government and police, which were immediately alerted, took preemptive measures. Security has been tightened in Hyderabad.
Thirty-two airports across northern and western parts of the country, including Srinagar and Amritsar, have been closed for civilian flight operations till May 15, according to the civil aviation regulator.
