Gold Price Slashes in Hyderabad on Feb 11
Hyderabad: Customs officials on Sunday seized 1022 grams of gold valued at Rs.53.77 lakh from a passenger at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad.
The male passenger, who arrived by Flight EL-526 from Dubai, had allegedly concealed the gold paste inside knee caps and worn it.
Customs officials who grew suspicious noticing his movement frisked him and found the gold paste. A case was booked and the gold was seized.
The Union Home Minister has alerted the states of the country in the wake of the Indo-Pak War. The Telangana government and police, which were immediately alerted, took preemptive measures. Security has been tightened in Hyderabad.
Thirty-two airports across northern and western parts of the country, including Srinagar and Amritsar, have been closed for civilian flight operations till May 15, according to the civil aviation regulator.
