After remaining out of sight for close to 48 hours, the leopard that triggered panic at Katedan on Thursday was reportedly spotted at the Himayat Sagar by a few persons early.

Following the information, Forest officials and the local police have started patrolling the forest area around the Outer Ring Road stretch between Shamshabad and Himayat Sagar in hope of spotting the leopard.

According to reports, a few persons had spotted the animal drinking water at the lake in the morning. A few truck drivers alerted the public about it and the information reached the local forest officials.

On Friday, the forest officials had said that the leopard might have gone towards the Chilkur forest area after escaping from the farmhouse compound at Katedan, after it was first spotted on Thursday morning near the Road under Bridge at Katedan close to NH 44.

The Cyberabad police had deployed surveillance drones on Thursday to track down the leopard in the farmhouse compound. On Friday, a tracker dog, following the trail of the leopard, took the officials to the Rajendranagar Agricultural University campus en-route to the Himayat Sagar.

Meanwhile a video of the leopard trying to grab a man, identified as the cleaner of a lorry at Katedan on Thursday, went viral on social media on Saturday. The surveillance camera footage was shot around 8.45 a.m on Thursday at the time when the leopard ran away from the road and moved into a industrial area adjacent to the Road under Bridge. A pack of stray dogs managed to chase away the leopard from the place after which it sneaked into the farmhouse compound.Leopard from Katedan spotted near Himayat Sagar
