Make sanitation drive a success: Indrakaran

Environment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy said public representatives and officials concerned to take part in special massive week-long sanitation drive as a movement and to make it a success.

Participating in Pattana Pragathi programme held at Sofinagar here, the MInister advised the public to keep their premises clean to prevent seasonal diseases which spread during monsoon. He urged them to spend 10 minutes every Sunday to clean their surroundings. He suggested that they discard unused tyres, coolers and pots, where water gets stagnant resulting in the rise of mosquito population.

The Minister instructed District Collector Md Musharraf Ali to carry out a survey of a tank at Sofinagar which was allegedly being encroached. He said that the onus of saving lands surrounding a tank was on officials. He told municipal authorities to allocate funds for constructing permanent drainage system in this locality.

Indrakaran suggested realtors to sell house sites by developing approved layouts. He told them to get permission from competent authority to their layouts after creating drinking water, electricity, internal roads and parks. He said that illegal layout and real estate projects would be cancelled and suggested buyers to verify whether the layouts are approved of directorate of town and country planning.

The minister further stated that novel coronavirus jolted the public and now, everyone was forced to live with the disease. He requested the civilians not to step out for curtailing the spread of the virus. He said that children and elderly must stay home. He informed that the curfew would be imposed from 9 pm to 5 am. He sought the people to use sanitisers and frequently wash hands for preventing the acute respiratory disease.

Municipal chairperson Gandrath Eshwar, District Libraries Chairman Erravothu Rajender, municipal commissioner N Balakrishna, deputy engineer Santosh, councilor Mathin, TRS leader K Ramkishan Reddy and many others were present.
