National Herald Case: Congress Holds ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ Rally

Hyderabad, June 16 (Hydnow): Congress party today held a Chalo Raj Bhavan condemning interrogation of party leader Rahul Gandhi by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with National Herald case. The program witnessed tense moments in the city.

Congress senior leader Renuka Choudhary argued with police when she was stopped by them. Women police surrounded Renuka in order to apprehend her, Renuka warned an SI on duty that she would beat her at her police station if she was stopped by the police. Renuka also held collar of the SI. She warned the police that there would be serious consequences if the police touched her.

On the other hand, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka held the collar of west zone DCP Joel Davis leading to tense moments. Eventually, the police arrested the Congress leaders. A large number of Youth Congress leaders and others reached Khairatabad to take part in the “Chalo Raj Bhavan” program. They also burned a bike at Khairatabad crossroads. The agitators stopped buses in order to express their protest.

State Youth Congress leader Anil Kumar Yadav climbed atop a bus and protested. The protest caused huge traffic jam at Khairatabad crossroads. The police resorted to lathi-charge on TPCC spokesperson Chamala Kiran Reddy. TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy posted the video of the lathi-charge on his official twitter handle and condemned the attack by the police. The police also arrested Revanth Reddy and took him to Bollaram police station.

They also took CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and MLA Jagga Reddy to the Goshamahal police station and MLA D. Sridhar Babu, TPCC working president Mahesh Kumar Goud to Punjagutta police station after arresting them. The police used barricades to stop the Congress activists and leaders from marching towards Raj Bhavan. (Hydnow)
