The winners of the Nizamabad round cooking contest are Soumya for her Millet Noodles; P. Rajitha for Ragi Jonna stuffed Parata and Namratha for Korrala Pulihora stood top three.

Nizamabad, Sept 8: The Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE) and Hands in Hospitality Chef’s Association to organized a cooking competition in Nizamabad on Thursday. It was held at Hotel Vamshi International, Nizamabad. The theme of the competition was Paushetik Vegetarian.

Neetu Kiran, Mayor of Nizamabad Municipal Corporation was be the Chief Guest and inaugurated the contest.

Soumya for her Millet Noodles; P. Rajitha for Ragi Jonna Stuffed Parata and Namratha for Korrala Pulihora stood top three.

The consolation prize winners include K Latha for Korrala Kichidi; A.Kalavathi for her dish Ragi Idli; Mouna for Banke Laddu; Devalaxmi for Kakarkai Podi and Rasagna for Ragi Laddu

The Special Consolation Prizes winners include Nirmala for Bellam Kudumulu; Kavya for her dish Munugu Aaku Rice; Manju Sharadha for Jowar, Bajara Paratha, Rama Devi Jonna Rotte Thalimpu, Prabhavathi for Ullikaram Annumulu, Harika for her Anumula Kudumulu.

Speaking on the occasion the Mayor Neetu Kiran said it is a good opportunity to women of Nizamabad to showcase their culinary skills.

Our ancestors used to eat rice only on festive occasions. They a consumed nutritious millet on daily basis. Now that practice is reversed, she said.

The guest of honour Dr. K. Bhaskara Chary, retired Deputy Director of National Institute of Nutrition said food literacy, nutrition literacy is a must for the people.

When we meet a patient or when we call on a guest, we carry fruits or nuts with us. Which mean’s food has great influence on the people.

Chefs play a greater role in creating awareness about the nutritious value of the food. The chefs must be nutritious oriented, if not they do more harm to the society, said the nutrition expert Dr Bhaskara Chary, who is also into Millet Research.

Cooking Contest on Paushetik food like this one is need of the hour said Chef and Director of Rathnakar Peduri from Infinity College of Hotel Management.

The Cooking competition” was titled as “Mera Swad Mera Swaasth”

It was a four-city contest in Telangana being held in Nizamabad. It was started from Karimnagar on 17th August, 2022 and already held at Warangal. Subsequently it will be held in Mahabubnagar on 22nd September. The finals will be held on 16th October in Hyderabad, where the selected eight winners will join winners of the other city and will do live cooking.

Ms. Jyotsna, President of COWE, Telangana disclosed that it was a vegetarian based cooking contest. Where participants had to carry a home cooked food and display to participate in the contest.

The contest was not just aimed to test culinary skills, but to spot entrepreneurial talent among rural women and nurture their future entrepreneurial aspirations. It was a contest with a unique purpose. COWE aims to turn 150 rural women into food entrepreneurs

The chefs judged based on the healthy nature of the food, concept, innovation, presentation.
