Telangana’s New Congress Government To Make Big Changes 

Hyderabad, Dec 5 (Hydnow): With the formation of a new Congress government in Telangana, significant changes and additions are on the horizon for key departments that play a pivotal role in the state’s administration.

The prospect of officer transfers and potential additions to key roles within the government machinery looms large, and this transition is expected to commence within a week after the government’s inauguration.

Departments such as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) are integral to the state’s development. 

Undertaking projects worth thousands of crores, these departments are at the forefront of infrastructural progress. The incoming government faces the challenge of maintaining transparency in governance affairs, particularly in crucial areas like water supply, sewage, sanitation management, and urban planning.

Notably, HMDA currently operates without a full-time commissioner, leading to delays in addressing key issues. Arvind Kumar, the Special Chief Secretary of the Municipal Department, currently shoulders the responsibilities of the HMDA Commissioner. Critics argue that the lack of a dedicated commissioner has resulted in coordination issues and a lack of focus on critical matters. 

As the process of conducting auctions for valuable lands under HMDA came to a halt during elections, the absence of a full-time commissioner has contributed to encroachments and allegations of mismanagement. The anticipated arrival of a new government brings with it the likelihood of appointing a new commissioner to rejuvenate the governance in HMDA.

In the police department, the tenure of the MD of HMWS&SB, Danakishore, has exceeded six years, leading to speculation about his possible transfer to key departments. 

The fate of Baldia Commissioner Ronald Ross, who assumed office before the elections, remains uncertain, pending official announcements. Allegations made by PCC President Revanth Reddy against Cyberabad Commissioner Stephen Ravindra during the elections add an element of anticipation to potential transfers within three police commissioners. 

The continuity of recently appointed officials like City Commissioner Sandeep Sandilya and Rachakonda Commissioner DS Chauhan also remains in question.

The new government is expected to make significant changes to these key departments to improve efficiency and transparency. 

The appointments of new commissioners and potential transfers of existing officials are likely to have a significant impact on the day-to-day operations of these departments.
