Hyderabad, September 29, 2023. Tension between India and Canada is only due to some misunderstandings. And I hope to see that they get sorted out very soon, said His Holiness Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja, a Canadian-born renowned ISKCON Leader. ISKCON is a spiritual organization. HH Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja, a spiritual leader of the Hare Krishna Movement was in the city on Friday. He visited one of the disciples Dr Aperna Volluru, Founder and MD of My School ITALY, a preschool chain at Hitex, Madhapur.
Interacting with the media on the occasion, H H Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja said, that Sanathan Dharma is a universal code of conduct. The word doesn’t have any religious connotation. I am a Roman Catholic Christian. My body is Canadian, but my soul is Indian. We need sanatan dharma. We can’t live without it, he said.
Speaking further he said education is very important. It must be promoted with all vigor. Education is life and life is education. Hyderabad is not new to me. I keep coming to India. I must have visited India 20 times. A good part of my life I spent in India said the 70 plus years old spiritual leader.
He is a Canadian born when asked about the strained relationship between both India and Canada, HH Bhakti Raghava Swami said that misunderstandings are common even in a blood relation and in a family. The recent set of events that unfolded between India and Canada is no way different. He hoped that relations would be normal very soon. Both countries need each other.
When his attention was drawn to another episode of controversy created by Maneka Gandhi’s remarks about ISKCON selling cows to butchers, Bhakti Raghava Swami said, there was no truth in it. He strongly refuted her allegations of selling cows to butchers. Instead, the primary aim of ISKCON is to protect cows. Her remarks are far from the truth, he added. Making generalizations is very unfortunate.
Dr Aperna Volluru, Founder and MD of My School ITALY, who invited the ISKCON Spiritual Leader said Sanathan Dharma is a constitution of human beings. I am a disciple of Raghava Swami. I am impressed by his preachings and peace messages. Today the whole world is disturbed. I have invited the Maharaja with the hope of getting some peace message, she said.
The brand ambassador of the School, The 9th Nizam of the Asaf Jahi Dynasty, H.E. Raunaq Yar Khan while speaking said that he was known for bringing people of different faiths for common good. I was granted a Ph.D. in recognition of my work on bringing communities together as my mission. On the occasion, he and a couple of others were given The Bhagavad Gita and The Srimad Bhagavatam, the Vedic Scriptures.
