With the State achieving food security, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao emphasised need to take up cultivation of crops as per market demand. He asserted that people should be encouraged to eat healthy and nutritious food to improve their immune system, besides motivating farmers to cultivate crops which will ensure profits to them.

The Chief Minister held extensive meetings with agricultural scientists, experts and also officials at Pragathi Bhavan for the last three days, to finalise the strategy for regulated farming and make agriculture profitable for farmers.

Chandrashekhar Rao said the regulated farming will come into force commencing from this Vaankalam (monsoon) season where farmers should cultivate crops as per the government guidelines. He wanted the authorities to prepare necessary plans for each crop season as per the market demand.

He said though the State achieved food security, it is yet to achieve nutritious food security. “Many people are not eating healthy food to boost their immune system. Under the current circumstances, it is essential to eat healthy and nutritious food,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister wanted the officials to prepare season-wise action plan for crop cultivation to meet market demand. An agriculture products marketing committee will be appointed by the State government to study the market demand, marketing strategies and prices across the world, and suggest profitable crops in the State.

He suggested that the farmers increase the yield by following modern farming techniques and using technology. The government will also appoint an agriculture research committee which will suggest modern cultivation techniques for each crop.
