Workers From North Telangana Stranded In Dubai, Sharjah

Workers hailing from Telangana are stranded in Dubai due to lockdown. About 37 workers from north Telangana are facing troubles in Sharjah due to lack of employment for the last two months. They have lost employment following the prolonged lockdown being imposed to check the spread of Covid-19. Adding fuel to the fire, their previous employers, where they worked for six months, had denied to pay salaries.

People from erstwhile Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad and Medak districts have been working in gulf countries. While some of them have migrated on a company visa, a few have gone there on visiting visa. Company visa holders left their jobs due to less salaries and working in other places illegally. Tourist visa holders were also working illegally. A native of Kondapur of Kamareddy district, Ramalingam said they worked in different companies under a sub-contractor, who refused to pay salaries after making them work for six months.
