World Blood Donor Day Observed at MANUU

Hyderabad, June 14 (Hydnow): Dr. M.K. Ansari Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Health Center Incharge, said that people need to dispel the notion that donating 200 ml of blood doesn’t cause any weakness as the blood in a human body regenerates within 24 hours of donating blood.

He was addressing the awareness programme on the occasion of World blood donor day. A pledge was also administered on the occasion.

He further said that the human body contains 4.8 litre of blood with O-ve as Universal donor and AB+ve universal recipient among different blood groups. People having diabetic and thyroid problems can donate blood but people suffering from cancer and hepatitis can’t donate blood, he added. Dr. Ansari cautioned that blood grouping and cross matching is necessary before donating blood.

Prof. Mohammad Fariyad, Head, Department of MCJ & Programme Coordinator, NSS said that hundreds of lives are being saved with the help of blood donation and urged more & more people to come forward for this life saving cause. He also explained the aims and objectives of blood donor day.

Prof. Mohammad Fariyad was the chairperson of blood donor day committee whereas Prof. Tahseen Bilgirami, Director, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre and Dr. Jarrar Ahmad, Assistant Professor Education were the members.

A question answer session was also held regarding blood donation. Health centre facilitated the students to know their blood groups on the occasion.

Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Assistant Professor Islamic Studies, Dr. Mohd. Shakeel, Assistant Professor, Education, Mr. Meraj Ahmad, Assistant Professor MCJ, Mr. Abdul Rasheed Shaik, Assistant Registrar, UGC-HRDC, Research Scholars, Health Centre Staff & Students were also present on the occasion.
