HYDERABAD | Almas Khan : Politics is no child’s play. But this young boy, Mohammed Almas Khan, has been pursuing politics as a passion since his childhood.
He started his career in politics when he was a school-going kid. He was only an 11-year boy when he campaigned for the Congress party in 2009. His love for the Congress party deepened as he grew younger. Three years later, at the age of 14 years, he became a member of Congress party’s Minority Wing in Nirmal. Two years later, in 2014, he was appointed as General Secretary of Minority Dept, Nirmal and a year later, he was appointed as the Working President of Youth Congress, Nirmal.
Almas Khan completely dedicated himself to the Congress and actively participated in its programmes. He started handling the social media activities in his district in such an effective manner that he was appointed as the Social Media Coordinator for Adilabad District in 2016. He executed his job so well that he was given a big promotion in less than a year. He was appointed as the State Coordinator of the Social Media Department of Telangana Congress.
He dealt with various operations like content production & management including designing and resolving technical issues of other Social Media Coordinators across the State. “More than studies or games, I enjoyed participating in political activities. Despite being a child, I enjoyed attending a political meeting or rally of the Congress party. There is no specific reason which defines my entry into politics, but the Congress party also fascinated me and I just wanted to be a part of it in whatever way possible,” says Almas Khan.
Having completed Polytechnic in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Almas Khan is presently pursuing a post-graduate degree in Law. Since he has been handling the Social Media of NSUI and Congress party, he completed various special courses in Social Media Management, Graphic Designing and Insight Development Management. “Managing social media for a political party or any of its wing is not an easy taks. We need special skills to ensure that the party’s message reaches the common man in an effective and desired manner. Therefore, I keep upgrading my skills to ensure that I’m of extreme use to the party,” he said.
Almas Khan background
Almas Khan, who comes from a humble background, rubbishes the misconception that money is required to pursue full-time politics. “I belong to a middle-class family and my father used to work as an Industrial Electrician with a company in Saudi Arabia. Being an active political activist for the last 12 years, I realised that one does not need any money to grow in politics. We just need to have dedication and strong commitment.
However, this is possible only in a people-centric party like Congress. If you work hard, there is a guarantee that your services will be recognised,” he said.
He claimed that the Congress party might appear weak, but it has a strong presence of cadre in almost all the booths in Telangana. Therefore, he is confident that Congress will return to power n the 2023 Assembly election. (Maxim News)
