Mumbai/Hyderabad, April 9 (Maxim News) The Congress party has avoided the bypoll elections to be held in the Baramati constituency in Maharashtra. With this, there are chances that NCP leader and Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar will be elected unanimously. It is known that NCP leader Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash recently. In this context, the by-election was to be held in Baramati on April 23. But now that the Congress party has avoided it.. Sunetra Pawar’s election will be unanimous.
NCP leaders Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule have pleaded with the Congress party to withdraw from the contest. Sunetra Pawar’s husband Ajit Pawar lost his life in a plane crash in January. Sunetra Pawar took over as Deputy CM a month later. Baramati seat is a stronghold for the Pawar family. Ajit Pawar has won from that seat since 1991. Sharad Pawar had represented Baramati seat before that.
Supriya Sule is currently the MP from Baramati. Thursday is the last day for filing nominations for the bypolls. However, Maharashtra Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal said that his party’s candidate Amar More will not contest from Baramati. (Maxim News)
