Hyderabad, June 24: A dead newborn was found inside the bathroom of a girls’ hostel at the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society college in Golconda, triggering a police investigation and raising serious questions about supervision and welfare protocols at the government-run residential facility.

According to police, a student enrolled in the Intermediate second year at the institution reportedly delivered the baby inside the hostel bathroom. The newborn was subsequently found dead. The student’s identity is being withheld in accordance with legal guidelines protecting minors involved in sensitive cases.

College Principal Mamoona Parveen lodged a complaint with the Golconda Police after the incident came to light. As per the complaint, another student informed the staff about the incident. Following this, authorities reviewed CCTV footage, which confirmed the sequence of events leading to the discovery of the newborn.

Golconda Police Register Case; TMREIS Management and Minority Welfare Minister Face Scrutiny

Golconda Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are examining how the pregnancy remained undetected inside a residential institution staffed with wardens, teachers, and support personnel. The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the identity of those responsible, form the basis of the ongoing investigation.

The incident has drawn attention to the TMREIS society, which operates minority residential schools and colleges across Telangana under the state government. The Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society functions under the administrative oversight of the Minority Welfare Department of the Telangana government. Questions have been raised about the adequacy of health monitoring, student welfare protocols, and hostel supervision at the institution.

Moreover, demands have emerged from various quarters seeking a response from the TMREIS society management and the Telangana Minister for Minority Welfare regarding the steps taken following the incident. No official statement has been issued by the TMREIS management or the Minority Welfare Department at the time of this report.

Golconda Police confirmed that the investigation is active and further details will be disclosed as the inquiry progresses. The college administration and hostel staff are expected to be questioned as part of the probe. The medical condition of the student involved is not confirmed in official communications received at the time of publication.
