After undergoing eight hours of questioning, Naresh Goyal, the founder of Jet Airways, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Mumbai.
This arrest is related to a money laundering case connected to a bank fraud, and it was executed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The ED’s investigation revolves around the airline’s alleged loan defaults, which are said to have caused a loss of 539 crore rupees to Canara Bank. In November 2021, Canara Bank lodged a complaint against Goyal and his wife, accusing them of cheating, conspiracy, breach of trust, and misconduct.
Prior to this, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had already labeled Goyal as a fraudster, and the ED is now seeking his judicial custody as the investigation progresses.
