Empty Desks, Open Doors: Telangana's Fight to Revive Government Schools

Hyderabad, May 29 (Hydnow): The government will announce the procedures for financial assistance to about one and a half lakh people from MBC and BC who are earning their living from caste jobs in the state. Efforts are being made to benefit 1200 to 1500 people in each constituency without any collateral and full subsidy and financial assistance will be provided.

The government has decided to continue this program continuously and will announce the first phase of the scheme on the occasion of the decade celebrations.

The ministerial sub-committee will finalize the procedures for acceptance of applications, selection of beneficiaries, financial assistance, etc. In this regard, a meeting will be held on Monday at 4 pm and the final policies will be announced in the presence of the Chief Minister.

Apart from any Brahmins, Vishwa Brahmins, Kummari, Medari, Rajaka, Pusala, etc., the sub-committee will reveal the details of other castes.

On June 9, there are possibilities of taking up the financial assistance distribution program by constituencies. At present, the government has allocated Rs. 603 crores for self-employment loans to MBC and BC Corporations in the state. 303 crores to MBC Corporation and Rs. 300 crores. It remains to be seen whether these funds will be used for the recently announced financial aid or adjusted as an alternative. Artisans are mostly in the MBC category.

The BC Welfare Department has already designed an activity to benefit 39,000 MBCs with the funds not available for this year. But the government estimates that there are around 12 lakh families dependent on caste workers in MBCs. The government hopes to provide financial assistance to at least one lakh to one and a half lakh people and encourage the caste professions and help them generate more income. (Hydnow)
