Hyderabad, April 11: Hyderabad cyber fraud alert over fake water bill scams issued by Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar. He warned citizens about new fraud attempts targeting residents.
He said cyber criminals are using the name of the water board to cheat people. They threaten users with disconnection notices to create fear. Therefore, many victims may share personal and banking details.
Police said fraudsters call users and claim pending water bills. Then, they send a suspicious file named HMWSSB WATER BILL UPDATE apk. However, officials confirmed it is a fake file with malware.
Sajjanar urged people not to download unknown apps or click suspicious links. He advised citizens to stay alert and verify information before taking action. Moreover, vigilance can help prevent financial loss.
