The Commissioner of Police said that in view of the current security environment, there is a possibility that firecrackers could be misinterpreted as an explosion or terrorist-related activity, which could put unnecessary pressure on the security forces. He said that bursting of firecrackers in public places, meetings and events is prohibited.
He said that the restrictions will come into effect immediately as per the City Police Act, CP CV anand clarified that the restrictions will continue until further orders. (Hydnow)
