Hyderabad, April 3: (Hydnow): BRS Working President KT Rama Rao criticized the government led by Revanth Reddy, stating their incompetence in managing water resources, particularly evident in their handling of Mission Bhagiratha.

Speaking at a media conference held at Telangana Bhavan, KTR demanded the State government to provide free water tanker service and withdraw bills issued for drinking water in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

He said citizens of Hyderabad and Secunderabad booked over 2.3 lakh water tankers including 1.3 lakh tankers from Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), in March alone. “Thanks to the apathy of the incompetent Congress government, the water tankers are back in demand, with people standing in long queues and indulging in street fights for a pot of water,” he said.

KTR highlighted the stark contrast in Hyderabad’s water situation over the past decade, from uninterrupted supply to the current reliance on tanker deliveries and auxiliary power sources like inverters and generators.

He credited KCR for previously ensuring access to drinking water even in remote areas, emphasizing the artificial scarcity engineered by the Congress government.

Pointing out the sufficient rainfall reported by IMD in the previous year, KTR urged a shift in focus from political matters like phone tapping to addressing water management issues, highlighting reservoirs like Sagar, Singur, Ellampalli, Usmansagar, and Himayatsagar with available water resources.

He questioned the need for Hyderabad residents to purchase water when such reserves exist nearby and accused the government of neglecting proper water management.

KTR also raised concerns about agricultural neglect, alleging deliberate actions by the Congress government to dry up crops, possibly to avoid paying bonuses upon successful harvests.

Additionally, he questioned the rising petrol prices, urging citizens to contemplate the correlation between increased crude oil costs and the subsequent inflation in essential commodities, noting a significant rise in petrol and diesel rates despite decreasing crude oil prices since 2014.
