Mamata Banerjee Calls on KCR on Upcoming Presidential Polls

West Bengal , June 11 (Hydnow): Ahead of the Presidential poll, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday called upon Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and requested him to participate in the joint meeting of all other anti-BJP forces in New Delhi on June 15.

Mamata Banerjee also called upon Congress president Sonia Gandhi and leaders of all other anti-BJP forces, requesting them to attend a meeting on June 15 convened by her in New Delhi to prepare a joint strategy for the upcoming presidential poll.

The meeting will be held at the Constitution Club, New Delhi at 3 PM, the All India Trinamool Congress party said.

Besides 8 Chief Ministers, 14 other top leaders have been invited by Banerjee, who is also the AITC chairperson.

These leaders include Chief Ministers K Chandrasekhar Rao (Telangana), Aravind Kejriwal (Delhi), Pinarayi Vijayan ( Kerala), MK Stalin ( Tamil Nadu), Naveen Patnaik (Odisha), Uddhav Thackeray ( Maharashtra), Hemanth Soren ( Jharkhand) and Bhagwanth Singh Mann (Punjab).

With the Presidential election around the corner, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, with an initiative of strong and effective opposition against the divisive forces, has reached out to the opposition Chief Ministers and leaders to participate in a joint meeting,” the party statement said.

Poll for President of India will be held on July 18, the Election Commission announced on Thursday, with 4,809 members of the electoral college comprising MPs and MLAs set to elect the successor to incumbent Ram Nath Kovind. (Hydnow)
