Hyderabad, April 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said UCC implementation in Bengal will begin within six months if the BJP comes to power.

He addressed public meetings in Kushmandi and Jangipur during his campaign. He said the 2026 elections are a fight between fear and trust. Moreover, he expressed confidence that trust will prevail.

Modi accused the ruling party of promoting syndicate rule in the state. He said mafia groups control several sectors. Therefore, he promised to end syndicate rule if BJP forms the government.


UCC implementation in Bengal key poll promise

The UCC implementation in Bengal formed a major part of Modi’s speech. He said the government will act against crimes against women. He also promised to reopen pending cases and ensure justice.

Furthermore, he warned that corruption in teacher recruitment will face strict action. He added that those involved will face legal consequences. He also spoke about law and order concerns in the state.

Modi said the government will provide citizenship to Matua and Namasudra communities. He also promised 33 percent reservation for women in government jobs. Meanwhile, he said steps will be taken against illegal infiltration.


He added that industries are leaving the state due to current policies. As a result, he said youth migration has increased. He urged voters to support a double engine government for development.
