Delhi/Hyderabad, April 2 (Hydnow): Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will challenge the Surat Court verdict in the defamation case. Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer said that he will be challenged in the Surat Sessions Court in Gujarat on April 3.
In his petition, Gandhi asked the sessions court to set aside the magistrate’s order convicting him in the defamation case, he said, Rahul Gandhi will ask the Court to grant an interim stay on the sentence until the case is resolved.
On March 23, 2023, the Surat Court sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years in prison for the remarks made by Rahul Gandhi in the state of Karnataka in 2019 saying that all people with the surname of Prime Minister Modi are thieves. Bail was immediately granted. It was in this background of these orders that the Lok Sabha Secretary General’s declaration that Rahul Gandhi is invalid as an MP is creating a political uproar.
