Hyderabad, Sept 6 (Hydnow): TPCC President and MP, Revanth Reddy has written an open letter to Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao demanding pending salaries for five to six months to contract junior lecturers should be paid, timely payment of salaries should be ensured every month and their services to be regularised immediately

In a letter, Revanth Reddy pointed out that contract employees and junior lecturers played a vital role in the Telangana movement. You have said that there will be no contract and outsourcing jobs and all will be government employees in Telangana mentioning that rulers in undivided state gave much pain to the contract and outsourcing employees. You have promised many times during the Telangana movement that once a separate state comes, these employees will be made regular with one signature. Moreover, this point was also included in the 2014 TRS manifesto.

Telangana state was manifested as expected. However, the hardships of the contract junior lecturers never came to an end. The situation has become so worse in your regime that they have to beg for salaries and no need to talk about regularisation. Even the contract lecturers who have been regularised in the month of May have not received their salary for the month of April yet. Salaries of degree contract lecturers are also pending in some districts.

Hundreds of employees are suffering without on-time salaries for months even though their duties are being performed properly. It has become difficult to support the families due to non-payment of salaries for months and they are struggling to pay their EMIs on time. Despite all this, there is no response from the government and therefore the employees tend to resort to debts. Unable to pay them on time, they are undergoing mental distress.

Government employees were paid salaries on the first day of every month in the past. But after the formation of your government, the situation is bad without knowing when the salaries will be paid. Now the salaries of contract lecturers are still pending for five to six months. Is this what an employee-friendly government means?

Except for claiming as the richest state your government pays no salaries to contract lecturers. Educationist Kothari says that the country’s future is shaped in the classroom. Hence it is intolerable to harass the lecturers without paying their salaries who teach in those classrooms that decide the future of the country. In this context, it is your responsibility to ensure that the salaries of the contract lecturers are paid on time. Otherwise, the Congress party will not only stand with their struggle but also prepare for direct action on their behalf. (Hydnow)
