Hyderabad, Aug.7 (Hydnow): TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy today greeted weavers of the State on the occasion of National Handloom Day.
In a statement here today, Revanth Reddy said the Congress would hold the National Handloom Day every year and added that the weavers’ community has a special place in the party. He said the handloom sector had played a very important role in the freedom movement of the country and added that it was used as a tool to achieve freedom from British rule.
He recalled that the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi also gave importance to weaving cotton on a spinning wheel. He said he was happy to note that National Handloom Day was being celebrated in the country in order to highlight the importance being given to the handloom sector. (Hydnow)
