Hyderabad, April 8: Two police officers were caught taking a bribe at the Shamshabad Airport Outpost Police Station on Wednesday. The Anti Corruption Bureau trapped Circle Inspector Kanakaiah and Sub Inspector Siddeshwar during the act.
Officials said the accused demanded money from a family linked to a fake educational certificates case. Earlier, the main accused in that case had already been jailed. However, the officers allegedly threatened the family with arrest.
Bribe Trap At Shamshabad Airport Outpost
Initially, the officers demanded Rs 15 lakh to avoid action. Later, they agreed to accept Rs 2 lakh after negotiations. Meanwhile, the victims approached the Anti Corruption Bureau and filed a complaint.
Acting swiftly, ACB teams laid a trap under the supervision of Ranga Reddy District DSP Anand. Soon after, they caught both officers while accepting the bribe amount.
Following the arrests, ACB teams searched the airport outpost police station for nearly five hours. Moreover, officials collected documents and other evidence during the operation.
Authorities said they will produce the accused before the special ACB court in Nampally. The court will decide on judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
