Hyderabad, April 11: Vigilance surprise checks found irregularities in several government offices across Hyderabad during inspections on Saturday. Officials reported attendance lapses, middlemen involvement, and delays in tax collection.
The Vigilance and Enforcement Department inspected nearly 20 offices across key sectors. These included transport, revenue, municipal administration, registration, enforcement, forest, energy, and industries.
During the Vigilance surprise checks, officials found attendance issues in multiple departments. Moreover, private persons acted as middlemen and handled official tasks. They prepared documents and coordinated with staff, which raised serious concerns.
In addition, officials noted delays in collecting taxes in several offices. These gaps affected revenue collection and administrative efficiency.
At RTO Uppal, pending tax dues reached Rs 180.65 crore from 16137 vehicles. Similarly, the TGSPDCL office in Patancheru reported Rs 2.65 crore pending from 19620 defaulters.
Further, officials identified Rs 3.88 crore pending in 4685 enforcement cases. These cases involved power theft and meter tampering, according to the department.
The department planned the Vigilance surprise checks with multi unit deployment. Teams from the CURE Area Task Force carried out coordinated inspections across the city.
Officials said the checks aimed to improve accountability in public offices. They also urged citizens to report misuse of funds or irregularities.
Citizens can report complaints through the toll free number 14432, officials said.
