Muslim Leaders Should Join Congress Because They Don’t Have Value in BRS: Ali Masqati

Hyderabad, September 24: Congress leader Ali Masqati said that the BRS has no moral right to seek votes from the minorities in the coming Assembly election as it has completely neglected their welfare in the last nine years.

Ali Masqati, in a media statement on Sunday, said that the BRS has cheated the Muslims on the promise of 12% reservation, judicial powers to the Wakf Board, restoration of encroached Wakf properties, and other assurances.

Most importantly, he alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has crushed Muslim leadership within the BRS and across Telangana by systematically reducing their representation.

CM KCR has given no importance to Muslim leaders in the party, either by encouraging their rise within the party or by giving them any importance in the government.

People still remember how a Muslim Deputy CM was denied entry into the Pragathi Bhavan and was sent away from the main gate.

In the last 9 years, CM KCR has not conducted a single meeting with the community leaders of his party, suppressing them to the extent that they could never remind him about his failed promises.

They remained silent when the BRS Govt did not utilize even 60% of the funds on the minorities’ welfare and when six mosques, including the two mosques in the Old Secretariat, were demolished.

CM KCR has given more importance to MIM leaders than the Muslim leaders of his party,” he said.

Ali Masqati alleged that CM KCR has been systematically conspiring to eliminate all Muslim leadership from Telangana.

He has done this by luring some Muslim leaders of Congress into the BRS fold and ending their political careers.

He has also ensured that Muslim representation in the Assembly remains marginal. While he renominated the sitting MLA Aamir Shakeel from Bodhan due to political compulsion, he only gave tickets to two dummy candidates from the seats whom BRS’s friendly party MIM has been winning.

“In 2014, there was a time when the Telangana Legislative Council had six MLCs belonging to different parties. But now their number has been reduced to half. With a single Muslim MLC (Home Minister Mahmood Ali), CM KCR completely avoided Muslims in MLC nominations,” he said.

When BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri used highly derogatory language and called the BSP MP a terrorist in Parliament, BRS MPs remained silent and did not register a protest.

Further, he said while AICC leader Rahul Gandhi visited Danish Ali to express his solidarity and condemn BJP MP’s conduct, CM KCR did not even react on this issue, he said adding that KCR has no courage to speak against his secret ally BJP.

“KCR has systematically reduced minority representation in the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) and other bodies.

Not a single Vice Chancellor of the 11 state universities is a Muslim. Even institutions like the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation, Urdu Academy, and Haj Committee are currently without full bodies.

The SETWIN has been headless for a long time. Minority representation in appointments to the judiciary, such as standing counsels, is almost nil,” he said.

Ali Masqati emphasized that only the Congress party can guarantee political empowerment and deliver social justice to minorities.

He strongly urged Muslim leaders within BRS to join the Congress, arguing that this would serve as a significant reprisal to CM KCR, whom he accuses of surreptitiously advancing an RSS agenda aimed at undermining minorities and eliminating their leadership.

He also appealed to the leaders of other communities to join the Congress if they stood for social justice. (Hydnow)
