The 450-bed healthcare facility at ESIC Hospital, Nacharam, which is being refurbished on a war footing, will be utilised for coronavirus positive patients.
On Saturday, Health Minister, Eatala Rajender and Labour Minister, Ch Malla Reddy visited the ESIC facility in Nacharam and reviewed the ongoing repair and refurbishment works of the building.
The construction of the modern ESIC block with 450 beds located within the ESIC Hospital campus at Nacharam was delayed earlier. While the entire hospital structure is ready, the finishing touches of the building are now under taken by the State Labour Department.
Recently, Labour Minister, Malla Reddy in collaboration with the Health Minister, Eatala Rajender, revived the construction activity. “We are hoping that the entire building will be ready in another 15 to 20 days. Unfortunately, due to some reasons, the construction activity earlier was halted. However, now the refurbishment works going at a quick pace. We want to keep the building ready to receive coronavirus patients if the need arises,” Rajender said.
He pointed out that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, had given clear instructions to keep infrastructure on the ready to meet any kind of eventualities during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“Based on the Chief Minister’s instructions, we are going ahead with our plans to get infrastructure ready for coronavirus patients. Once the coronavirus pandemic is over, the hospital will again revert back to providing services to workers and will remain under the Labour Department,” Rajender said.
